Ann Williams and the Williams Ensemble
Ann Williams is a gospel singer known for writing the famous gospel song ” You Been So Good To Me”. She wrote the song while sitting at the table in Ninety Six looking out the window. She has performed this song, (later recorded with Hoyt Sullivan),for two United States Presidents- President Jimmy Carter, who specifically mentions Ann in his autobiography on p.88 and again for President Ronald Reagan. She has also sang for SC Senator John Drummond.
Ann’s group, Ann Williams and the Williams Ensemble began as a local small chorus church group. They recorded one album, but it wasn’t long for Ann’s talent was discovered nationally.
Today Ann quietly works at a Walmart and still carries her lovely voice. Her memorabilia will be displayed at the 96 Visitors Center in the upcoming months.
